| MP CM sets example for Ministers and for all |
Undeterred with the defeat of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the recently held Parliamentary elections, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has started working afresh with confidence. In a series of quick decisions, Chouhan wants to continue business 'as usual'.
The idea is to tone up the administration and make it more transparent and accountable in the first measure. The bureaucrats have been asked to come on time at State Mantralaya. He believes in leading by example. These days, he's the first to arrive and stays till late evening. He is also visiting villages randomly and staying overnight with the villagers.
The Chief Minister in the past told his Cabinet colleagues to visit villages to know the ground realities of the schemes, but hardly any Minist |

After its disastrous performance in the general election, the BJP leadership must take stock of the situation and strategise the party’s recovery. Similarly, the Left needs to overcome its crisis of leadership, more so the CPI(M) which is facing serious trouble in its strongholds
After the 2009 Lok Sabha election both the Left and the BJP are confronted with the problem of infighting and leadership crisis. The BJP, which till now took pride in calling itself a ‘party with a difference’, is now seen more as a ‘party with dissidence’. On the other hand, the Left parties, particularly the CPI(M), known for their discipline are now facing indiscipline at the top |

| TRS chief suffers double whammy |
The Telangana Rashtra Samiti(TRS) supremo K Chandrasekhara Rao on Thursday suffered a double whammy as the rebels of his party launched a new forum Telangana Vimochana Samiti (TVS) to start a new movement for separate State and on the other a close aide of KCR revolted against him calling him a “big fraud”.
TRS MLC K Dilip Kumar, the brain behind the launch of the new forum, addressing a gathering of intellectuals, academicians and activists said that the TVS was not a political party. "It is a non political movement launched to struggle for achieving Telangana State.
It had become necessary because the existing parties had failed to achieve the goal," he said taking a dig at the TRS and its president K Chandrasekhara Rao.

Personal pique can’t set the agenda
Victory has many fathers; defeat is an orphan. Nothing proves this adage more resoundingly than the turmoil currently being witnessed in the upper echelons of the BJP. Some of this was unavoidable following the party’s comprehensive defeat in the Lok Sabha poll. While it is a fact that many in the BJP were not confident of storming into power given the party’s weakness in several key States as well as its inability to cobble together a l |

It was the media that did the BJP more harm with its focused, negative, venomous and malicious onslaughts than anyone else.
How many public meetings did Rahul Gandhi attend—100, 150 or 200? Even if we take 5000 as audience listening to him (of whom many would be party workers) how many people did he reach? Just 10 lakh out of 110 crore. A pittance! But media reached him to all. Contrast this with Shri Advani, Shri Narendra Modi and Shri Rajnath Singh’s much more qualitative and substantive public meetings, how many people did it reach? Media, out of necessity, showe |

| BJP must go back to its roots |
You can tell a lot about the state of an organisation by just looking at its headquarters.
At 11 Ashoka Road, the BJP’s Central Office, the neon lights that shone on giant cutouts of the party’s top leaders don’t even come on anymore. It could be a case of a simple short circuit which the electricians there haven’t been able to detect. Quite like the disconnect between the party and the majority of Indians, which its leadership failed to detect, bringing the party to this pass.
And now, nearly a month after the results came out, they are still unable to decipher what went wrong. Far from taking collective responsibility for their shared failure, they even persuaded the lone man who owned up and offered to quit to stay on, so that they themselves c |

L.K Advani was on Sunday elected as leader of the BJP's Parliamentary party, which however, failed to elect its deputy leader in the Lok Sabha and its Rajya Sabha chief leaving it to him to take the key decisions which would give broad contours of future leadership. With his election at BJP's Parliamentary party's first meeting after the recent Lok Sabha elections, Advani(81) becomes the Leader of the Opposition by virtue of heading the single largest opposition party.
"After his election as the leader, the parliamentary party has authorised Advaniji to appoint office-bearers including Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and deputy leader of both the houses. | Weight of defeat is heavy on BJP |
Grace and dignity are traits normally not exhibited by the variety of nationalists the RSS breeds in the shakhas. That is why most of us were stunned when the BJP announced that L.K. Advani was actually going to quit after leading the BJP to its most stunning defeat in two decades.
This is not the sort of response one normally expects from someone who spent most of his political life wrapped in the saffron flag advising trishul - wielding lumpens how to demolish a fifteenth century monument.

Based on information, my take on events are as follows:
- The Congress has had some success in soothing the ruffled egos of the Samajwadi Party. Amar Singh is thrilled that Digvijay Singh has said sorry. The SP believes it is going to win at least 25 seats. | Is the BJP coming back |
Suddenly, there’s a buzz within the BJP. The flagging campaign has been re-energised, and there’s a spring in the step of workers. The party believes that it has put up a strong show in the first three phases of polling, and is now banking on Rajasthan, one of its traditional strongholds, to deliver Delhi to it.
True, the BJP lost the assembly elections in Rajasthan only last year, but it still has a committed vote base there and just needs to woo away a relatively small percentage of Congress and undecided voters. And so, all the big guns – from L K Advani and Narendra Modi down – are being wheeled into the desert state in a bid to propel the BJP to the position of the single largest party all-India, come May 16.

The fact, of course, is that Advani took up the matter with the prime minister in April last year. The reply from the then-finance minister P. Chidambram showed that the government intended to do little except go through the pretence of taking some steps. The concept of triage first arose in field hospitals, where doctors had to decide what to do with large numbers of war wounded and very limited resources. The medical staff would pursue appropriate methods with each of these groups. The hopeless cases they would give painkillers to, make them comfortable, and let them die in peace. Those who were lightly wounded they would give first aid to and prepare them for further care, not immediately, but as soon as feasible. The last group, for whom emergency |
